Criminal justice reform and second chances may seem like abstract concepts to most people. I know it once did for me. That changes when someone you love — a son, daughter, spouse, a friend — makes a mistake or takes a misstep that places them in the cross hairs of the police, prosecutors and judges, the criminal justice system.

Criminal justice reform and specifically second chances is how we create a pathway for worthy individuals to live again in freedom.

In Florida, a life sentence means death in prison. My son does not deserve to die in prison. Some people do. He is not one of them.
