Message from Mitchell's Mom
Criminal justice reform and second chances may seem like abstract concepts to most people. I know it once did for me. That changes when someone you love — a son, daughter, spouse, a friend — makes a mistake or takes a misstep that places them in the cross hairs of the police, prosecutors and judges, the criminal justice system.
Criminal justice reform and specifically second chances is how we create a pathway for worthy individuals to live again in freedom.
I genuinely hope you sign the petition and share our website with your colleagues, family and friends. Please help me save my son from dying in prison.
In Florida, a life sentence means death in prison. My son does not deserve to die in prison. Some people do. He is not one of them. The circumstances surrounding Mitchell’s arrest and conviction in Miami-Dade make this clear. I have provided you with all the key details surrounding his conviction in Miami-Dade on the pages of Balanced Justice Network.
Within Balanced Justice Network you can also listen to Mitchell directly on the podcast recordings which I recorded during his calls from prison.
I will ask Mitchell to address other issues in future podcast episodes. If you wish to be notified of future episodes, please enter your contact details when you submit the petition.
The petition you sign will not be posted online.
I will use the petition to urge the Miami-Dade prosecutors to support balanced justice in Mitchell’s case. Specifically, we are urging the Miami-Dade County State Attorney, Katherine Fernandez Rundle, to support a second chance for Mitchell.
Thank you so much for visiting.
Best,
Evelyn Castillo-Bach
